Vaches limousines qui broutent

For the 2025 edition, the Paris International Agricultal Show has chosen an emblematic breed, part of France's agricultural heritage. “Present in Paris since the 1st General Agricultural Contest in 1870, I'm a large-format meat breed. Famous for my bright wheat coat, I come from a primarily grassland region. The first Label Rouge created for a beef breed, I can be found in every French department, including La Réunion. I am, I am... the Limousine breed!”

This breed is a true pillar of bovine breeding in France and around the world, with a presence in over 80 countries across 5 continents. It is renowned for the exceptional quality of its meat: fine, juicy and tasty. Originally from the Limousin region - now part of the Nouvelle-Aquitaine region - this breed has adapted to the needs of breeders while maintaining its maternal qualities and strength.

The Limousine breed, in a few figures

  • 2nd largest beef breed in France with 1,100,000 mother cows
  • 30,000 Limousine cattle farms in France
  • 2 out of 3 cows are Limousines in Nouvelle-Aquitaine
  • First Label Rouge created for a cattle breed
  • First beef breed to conduct research on genomic selection in France

Join us at Paris International Agricultural Show 2025, from February 22 to March 2, to discover the muse of this 61st edition, which promises once again to highlight the excellence of French breeding.
